Engagement Shoot Kelham Island
Jen & Alec’s,
Easter Monday engagement shoot at Kelham Island.
Having only corresponded through email the first time I met Jen and Alec in person was when we met outside their flat in Rotherham before we drove off to Kelham Island in Sheffield for their engagement shoot. You’d never know we’d only just met as we chatted all the way in their car. They are such an outgoing and bubbly couple.
Kelham Island is a quirky location. I’d not been before so it was really exciting to discover lots of little alcoves, tunnels and huge red-bricked walls around the old industrial site. I love contrast and texture, and we were so lucky with the sun. I know a lot of photographers dislike direct sunlight but it’s my favourite kind of light to work with. I love the shadows it creates and the vibrancy of the colours it brings out in everyday things.
Jen and Alec are ace, such fun to photograph. Alec has a rather malleable face, which he likes to mould in to cheeky grins at every opportunity. My favourite picture from their shoot though is the one of the dog walking by as Jen and Alec stand against a wall. It’s just the look on his face, like, “Hey! Who the hell are you?” Here are their Kelham Island engagement photography highlights on a beautifully sunny Easter Monday.
‘Ahh!! They’re amazing! Isn’t Alec a poser?! Can’t stop looking at them! Thank you SO much.’
